
Chilika Rice Recipes
Steamed Chilika Rice
- Ingredients: 1 cup Chilika Rice, 2–2.5 cups water and Salt (optional)
- Method:
- Rinse and soak rice for 20–30 mins.
- Cook with water until soft and fluffy.
- Serve hot with dal, curry, or rasam.
Chilika Curd Rice
- Ingredients: 2 cups cooked rice, 1 cup curd (yogurt), Mustard seeds, curry leaves, Ginger, green chilli and Salt
- Method:
- Mash cooked rice slightly.
- Mix with curd and salt.
- Add tempering of mustard, curry leaves, ginger.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Chilika Lemon Rice
- Ingredients: 2 cups cooked Chilika Rice, Lemon juice, Mustard seeds, curry leaves, Peanuts, Turmeric, green chilli, Oil and salt
- Method:
- Heat oil, add mustard seeds, peanuts, curry leaves.
- Add turmeric and green chilli.
- Mix with cooked rice and lemon juice.
- Toss well and serve.
Chilika Rice Vegetable Pulao
- Ingredients: 1 cup Chilika Rice, Mixed vegetables (carrot, beans, peas), 1 onion (sliced), Whole spices (bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon), 2 cups water, Oil/ghee and salt
- Method:
- Sauté spices and onions in oil/ghee.
- Add vegetables and soaked rice.
- Add water and cook until done.
- Fluff and serve hot.
Chilika Sweet Rice (Jaggery Rice)
- Ingredients: 1 cup Chilika Rice, ¾ cup jaggery, Cardamom, Cashews, raisin and Ghee
- Method:
- Cook rice until soft.
- Melt jaggery with little water and strain.
- Mix syrup with rice, cook till thick.
- Add ghee, nuts, and cardamom.
